Sharing the knowledge on corrosion resistant alloys designed to offer operational savings

There can be no substitute for genuine, quality, corrosion resistant stainless steel and special alloys, a message Sandvik will be emphasizing to visitors at ADIPEC 2015 (the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference), which takes place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s capital between 09-12 November.

New for this year, there will be live demonstrations of tube bending to show how the controlled hardness of Sandvik tube sets a standard of its own for easy bending and leak free connections. The demonstrations will take place on Tuesday, November 10 and Wednesday, November 11, at 11.00am and 3.00pm on the Sandvik Stand No 3220, in Hall 3.

“The complexities and demands of oil and gas exploration and production bring many challenges, including the corrosive effects this can have on materials,” said James Doughty, Sandvik Sales Manager – MENA region, Tube, Core & Standard Products.

“Designed to help customers increase productivity and plant uptime our latest lightweight, high strength duplex, super duplex and high alloy  Sandvik tubular products for topside, subsea or downhole oil and gas, with superior corrosion resistance, means it is possible to design and install lighter and longer lasting materials.

“With longstanding Middle East experience and extensive reference lists, Sandvik can demonstrate material expertise and solutions for critical applications from heat exchangers, through to production tubing and casing in highly sour environments, as well as coiled tubing for control lines, chemical injection lines and umbilicals.”

As a leading wire manufacturer the company will also show its slicklines and logging cable armor wire for use in sweet well and highly corrosive and harsh well environments, including sour well conditions.

Sandvik technical experts will be on the stand throughout ADIPEC to discuss new materials and innovative operational solutions providing guidance on the use of lean duplex piping systems, tube for heat exchanger applications, wirelines and the full range of oil and gas products.

Sandvik invest heavily in research and development and new materials, the latest addition to the product portfolio is Alloy 625 (Sanicro 60) hydraulic & instrumentation tube. Other corrosion resistant grades include 254SMO*, Sandvik SAF 2507, Sanicro 28, 2RK65 (904L) and the standard setting 3R60 (316L) which has a minimum of 2.5% molybdenum.

For component manufacture Sandvik supplies Sanmac™ duplex and super duplex stainless steel bar and hollow bar which offer increased machinability that maximizes productivity allowing higher cutting speeds combined with reduced tool wear.

“ADIPEC provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate how our innovative products, research and development, extensive stock range and associated services can be of benefit to customers and their processes,” added James Doughty.
